Dr. Kate Cherrell is a paranormal historian, award-winning investigator and enthusiast of all things strange and spectral. She works as a writer, speaker, and media personality.
She was born and raised in Grimsby, spending much of her childhood in cemeteries and libraries. Her first introduction to both reading and the paranormal was at the hands of her grandfather and his collection of ghost and UFO-related paperbacks. What should have ensured a lifetime of sleepless nights, kicked off a life-long obsession with the supernatural and the unexplained. Since then, Kate has worked in a cemetery, surveyed bat populations and operated a blog on graves, ghouls and folklore for over a decade.
She obtained a BA (Hons) from Warwick University, two MA degrees from Lincoln and Portsmouth and a PhD from The University of Lincoln. Through her academic work, she has pursued projects in Victorian gothic and Spiritualist history, the fruits of which can be seen in multiple books and papers. The history of ghosts and spirits is the history of the human experience, and bears great relevance today.
After unwittingly living in a haunted house as a teenager, she began to pursue investigation into the paranormal as both a hobby and personal quest. She has since investigated countless locations across the UK and has appeared on multiple television programmes as a paranormal expert and investigator, making the supernatural accessible and engaging.
When she isn’t speaking or pursuing her own projects, she is a writer and presenter for hire. More information can be found through the media and writing tabs. You can send her an email below.
